TIME TO GET COZY

As the days get shorter and the leaves begin to change color, it’s time to say goodbye to summer and welcome the fall season. These are the months to enjoy the crisp autumn air, enjoy a hike in the fall foliage, go apple picking, carve a pumpkin and whip up some tasty baked goods. This may just be the coziest season of them all.

With the temperatures dropping and the bright sunny days becoming far and few, it’s the perfect time to add freshness by changing up your decor both inside and outside your home. We love the fall season as it utilizes nature, inspired by the harvest season, to the fullest for decorating.

Switching up your front porch decor is one of the best ways to transition from summer to fall. An easy place to start is by either adding a fall themed doormat or porch sign to welcome guests to your home. A wreath is another great way to add color to your door, in the hues of autumn, it’s a wonderful way to add a pop of color to your front door. To compliment these accents, we love to add some fresh fall flowers. Mums are a beautiful and affordable flower that you can hang in a basket or place in a planter, and they come in beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow. And of course, we can’t forgot about pumpkins and gourds, symbolic decorations of the season. Pick them up at the farm or your local store and have fun carving, stacking and getting creative. And if you want to go all the way, hay bails and corn stalks can help frame your entryway even more.

Once the front porch is fall ready, it’s time to get the inside of our house equally festive. Just like the front porch, we love the mix of natural and decorative pieces to compliment many decorative styles. If you’re looking for cute accents with a little less work, themed accent pillows and throw blankets are you friend. Pillows with orange accents are a favourite to add warmth to the space, in both bedrooms and living rooms. Changing up your wall art keeps things fresh. With it being the harvest season, you’ll find many choices of wall art with pumpkins, sunflowers and expressions of thanks. For an entrance way, I love a fall plaque that’s welcoming the season with expressions like “Happy fall” or “Give thanks”. Then for the living room, accenting shelves or mantles with cute ceramic and plush pumpkins, as well as rustic wooden signs.

When it come to the kitchen, this is one of my favourite places to spend time in the fall, as there are so many great products to cook with during this season. Bringing in festive tea towels makes cooking and entertaining way more fun, as do fall themed mugs for enjoying hot apple cider and warm teas. I can already smell the apple pie baking and the butternut squash simmering!

Autumn is put on display beautifully in Canada and there are so many amazing ways to highlight the season in your own home too. So get inspired by the changing season and our selection of decorative pieces to make your home cozy and fall ready!
